I was asked to do a baby shower cake for one of my co-workers, Courtney.  He and his wife are going to have a baby boy in June.

She wanted a white cake with a fruit filling.  I made a white cake with 3 layers of strawberry puree (see below) and whipped cream. I iced the cake with a vanilla buttercream (See Kay’s Buttercream Recipe).  They kind of gave me free reign on the decorations (BTW, Courtney’s idea of a snowboarding baby in a diaper was cute, the oozing chocolate cake wrapped in a diaper, not so cute).  I made baby booties out of a mixture of fondant and gumpaste.  And little 2D baby rattles for the sides of the cake.
