I was watching Everyday Italian with Giada De Laurentiis this morning and she had Chocolate-Orange cupcakes on for halloween.  They looked yummy, so I thought I’d try them.

The cupcake recipe calls for candied orange peel.  Here’s her recipe for the orange peel:

And her recipe for the cupcakes.  It seems pretty easy.  Using orange juice instead of water to spruce up a cake mix and adding chocolate chips and the candied orange peel for extra flavor.  She gives a tip for keeping the chocolate chips and orange peel suspended in the cake mix so they don’t settle to the bottom of the cupcake…..give them a little coat of flour before adding them to the mix.  The flour will bind with the mix and hold them up.  Who knew!
