Bought an underwater camera for the boat. It’s a “cheap” version that I bought off someone from Ebay. They are normally around $300, but got it for $100 (score). It’s a wired camera that has a 65 foot cord and then it attaches to a 7 ” LCD monitor, and it all powered by a small battery. COOL! I am going to take it fishing and then go check out one of the harbors to see if I can spot some lobsters. Video when I can get it…

Cool. WordPress has a geotagging feature of the blog. Works really well with the phone. I’ll have to futz with it.

Soldered all the needed connections, now I need to start identifying the voltages, and then start to code. Might need Abbott’s help with the scoping piece…

- Got my MBED chip, and the L293 controller
- Got “frankie the fish”, from the McDonalds commercial (actually 3 of them from BBB, they were $10 a piece)
- Got an actual Billy Bass off of Ebay
- Need a breadboard, SD card, and a lot of help.
Here is a Billy Bass Mod for inspiration.
Well, had a successful and unsuccessful jailbreaking of my iphone. I have version 3.1.3 os the os. Broke that! Then I had an issue with the bootloader. Oh well, no iPhone in London.
This guy hacked it using Twitter as well. Check it out.

Mine will be a little less grandiose, and I am using the Filet-o-Fish one. It was $10 at Bed Bath and Beyond. I will be using the Mbed controller, but haven’t ordered it yet. I have been dying to get into some electronics, and I have some geeky friends who will help. This might be the project I finally get done!
Checked the flights from the bar to make sure that the volcano wasn’t going to ruin the trip home.
Cool!!
Course I didn’t really want to find this info if AT&T had been doing a good enough job with it’s network. We now regularly DROP calls on the way home and I dropped two to my sister, while I was standing in the same spot. LAME. But this is really geeky stuff, I’m way behind on knowing this, it’s not new, but it’s at least a troubleshooting tool.
If you have an Iphone, dial *3001#12345#* to do a Field Test. This will tell you how good or bad your reception is. It showed -90 to -100 levels, which is really bad. It should be below -70.
Here is my signal strength with 3G on (note the crappy -99, and how no info is there). Note the differences between the two networks (3G and Edge)
